Immunoglobulin Cellular Swimmers

This is what I looked over at just the other day causing me to... gasp!

What's the big deal, you ask? It's quite the messy face, but not a big deal when it's the messy face of your 1-year-old lovingly enjoying his Monster Cookie that he gets few of, right?

Well, what if I told you that milliseconds previous to my....gasp...I answered a phone call from the clinic that was relaying this "messy faced little boy's" blood work results from his allergy test?

Hmmmm...wait for it, wait for it.

"An EGG WHITE ALLERGY???" I asked. What the heck is an egg white allergy? And how do you keep a child from skin and bones when he has an EGG WHITE ALLERGY? He's not going to go into anaphalactic shock now that he just ate 2 cookies from a batch that called for 3 EGGS?

Long story short, Oli's immunoglobulin cellular swimmers and antibodily fighters have decided enough is enough with the eggs and want to prove it by causing him to break out and swell up.

Who knows anything about any of this? Much advice is appreciated.

I do. I do. Only because my good friend, Yvette, has a son with an egg allergy. She's a wealth of knowledge on this, and she has a blog--www.hatchlings.blogspot.com.

Head on over there, I know she would be happy to help you navigate a new eggless life.

Oh, and her son, Henri, could not be healthier, more fit, or have more energy. No worries there.

I didn't know you were an NWC alum!

I was just telling Rachel last night how I missed eating French Toast & other egg foods. When I gave my son his first egg, he swelled up with hives.

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. Thankfully, eggs are pretty easy to avoid--breakfast foods, baked goods, some noodles (watch out for canned soups), mayonnaise, & some ice creams & candy bars. Scan to the bottom of ingredients lists for the bolded allergy warnings. Eggs will be listed there. If Oli isn't allergic to egg yolks, you can always read the ingredients to see what part of the egg is used.

By searching for "vegan" recipes on the Internet (www.recipezaar.com is my favorite) or sifting out eggs from your search, you can make almost anything. I've got a great chocolate cake recipe. Keep your Benadryl & Epi-pen nearby just in case. We've only had to use the Benadryl.

Oh, brother! Kieran broke out in hives a LOT as a lil tyke (as opposed to the medium tyke his is now). Had a full allergy screen and showed nothin'! Hmmmm. It stopped happening once he was two-ish. No eggs whites....no advice here! At least now you know....no more monster cookies for him. Hey, if you've got extras, since Oli can't eat them, you could always send them to me....

I'm an allergy mom to a severely allergic (milk) girl.
I'm not versed on eggs but know a lot about allergies in general.

It can be a long road but most kids outgrow it (& guessing by the cookies, I'm thinking he's not severely allergic?).
