Just keepin' it real with ya'll.

(..so that when I'm 50, I don't brag to some new mom of 4under3 that my days with lots of little ones was one gigantic piece of chocolate cake!)

Yesterday afternoon was supposed to be great memory making at its finest.

And I think it was!

I'm pretty sure each and every one of our four had a marvelous time on our trip to the corner/edge of our neighbor's yard/50 feet past our driveway and back.

I'm quite certain that Hazel was telling Norah just "how much fun it is to ride" in the sled she was in. And it's a good thing that Norah didn't notice the mitten clips I fastened to her. It's like they didn't seem to mind the weather. Or being bundled. Not one bit.

If only Mr. Marvelous was able to join us. He was at work about 15 minutes away. However, he might have heard all our laughing and caroling. I'm sure all the neighbors did.

I know the little girls wanted to stay outside a bit longer, but I figured we've got all winter for outdoor fun. So we cut our snow play short...

...and snuggled on the front rug. I still in my coat/snowpants/boots/neckwarmer.

We'd probably do it again this afternoon. But I sure don't want to wear out the excitement of it all, ya know. Like I said, we've got all winter.

[sigh]

I love this!
Just this morning I tried to avoid running an errand just so I didn't have to "bundle" up my TWO with just coats and hats! You took all FOUR of yours with boots, pants, hats, coats, mittens and CLIPS?

This made my day! Now I know that when I'm bundling my 3, your bundling even more. Thanks for keeping it real.

you are hilarious....isn't it amazing how we, as mothers, don't always foresee how absolutely HORRIBLE some of our outings are going to be....I mean playing in the snow, sledding, sounds like a BLAST to me...how does it turn into such a disaster??? I'd say 75%of our outings end up with me wishing we had just stayed home! oh well guess we gotta keep trying---and making memories! ☺ Great Post!

I need some of those mitten clips for my little one. She will only wear mittens in the house, but once we're outside....no thank you....then she cries and says "OUCH" when you try to rub her hands warm with your own mittened up hands.

I am laughing so hard right now!

Love it.

When we lived in Montana and my boys were 3 and 1, I thought that taking them for a walk in the sled that had been HAND MADE for them would be SO GREAT. Got them all excited, bundled us all up and headed out into the SNOWY neighborhood. I pretty much got responses like you have pictured here...I have an adorable picture of my boys (younger one trying to rip off his warm and cozy hat, older one looking at me with tears streaming down his face) from that very outing.

Fun times, fun times. :)

Keep makin' those great memories, mom! You're doing a wonderful job--I mean that!

Tiffany, that was SO funny! It brought back so many memories from when I was a kid. Snot, crying, winter excursion lasting only minutes. I can't imagine being on the mommy end of it though, never really thought of it! You are inspiring!

It's true. You tend to forget about these days when your kids are 30. Unless they're the ones that earned their place in your memory bank.

Cute.

This is hilarious! I seriously don't remember a sledding time with my 3 that would have produced happy pics. Truth is, they were always fighting. Oh, but snuggling them once they were inside was so nice. The experience wore them out. They had more fun sleeping than sledding.

You're just keepin' it real, mommy. Peace!

Y'all need an ATV and a toboggan. That dried my baby sister's tears right up. Or maybe they just evaporated in the wind.

ATV rides with toddlers. Another good reason to have your children 15 years apart.

I am with the kids. Gimme a mug of hot chocolate and a pillow by the fireplace and I am set on a snowy day. Thank goodness snow is somewhat of a rarity here, so by the time the novelty wears off, it is gone. Of course, now that I am saying that, we will probably get dumped on this winter. :)

Wow look at that snow! Love that you keep it real, girl! I suspect in 50 years you will look back at these pictures of crying babies and snotty noses and miss it all the same. :-)

I think all that work (and torture) makes the hot chocolate seem oh-so-much-better!
